Budapest, Király u. 16, 1061 Hungary

One of Europe’s most iconic spa towns, Budapest is the perfect mix of classic architecture and thriving city life. The first thing you should do is check out the vast Széchenyi baths (one of Europe’s largest thermal complexes), a mere 15-minute metro ride away. If you care to take a walk along the river, you’ll soon end up at Margaret Island via Margaret Bridge, for more year-round bathing at Palatinus Strand, where out of 10 pools, four are covered and two are thermal.

Saint Stephen’s Basilica is less than a 10-minute stroll from the hotel, should you wish to soak up the local heritage. A half-hour walk to the UNESCO-protected Castle Hill is a must, with its selection of monuments and museums up above and intricate web of caves formed by thermal springs below. Stroll 15 minutes south from here to gawp at the magnificent Royal Palace, perhaps perusing local art at the Hungarian National Gallery inside.
