A wine-themed hotel stay on the Croatian island of Krk, with sea views and spa – includes breakfast and more
  • Wine-lover's paradise: Wine plays a starring role at Hotel Vinotel Gospoja, and the spa is no different: there, it's rubbed into the skin as part of vinotherapy for an anti-ageing boost. The spa menu also provides more traditional massages, facials and beauty treatments, while the wellness space spans an indoor pool with relaxation zones and a clutch of Finnish, steam and special Mediterranean saunas.

  • Mediterranean flavours: Gospoja's restaurant rustles up traditional specialities made with fresh, regional ingredients, washed down with the finest local wines, of course. Seasonal dishes offer a flavour of Croatia, including the likes of octopus carpaccio and risotto with Kvarner bay shrimps. Alternatively, get your carb fix at Pizzeria Gospoja or feast on traditional dishes at the charming brick-and-wood Tavern Žlahtina.

  • Stylish guest rooms: Named after different varieties of Croatian wine, just 22 design-led rooms create an intimate and exclusive vibe at Hotel Vinotel Gospoja. Olive-green hues and earthy tones complement glistening side or full views of the crystalline Adriatic Sea. Pick a Deluxe Double room to take advantage of a bubbling Jacuzzi, or opt for a Standard Family room to enjoy extra space for up to four guests.

Frankopanska ul. 1, 51516, Vrbnik, Croatia

Cast adrift from mainland Croatia, the sprawling island of Krk is home to Vrbnik, an ancient village perched on a rugged limestone cliff edging the eastern coast, ringed by manicured vineyards and glistening Adriatic views. The cobbled alleyways of Vrbnik are well worth wandering, with their quiet cafes and restaurants. Wander around until you find Klančić, the narrowest street in the world, measuring only 40 centimetres wide. Head a little way down the coast for the day to Mala Laka beach, an idyllic, quiet stretch of sand, perfect for taking a dip in the warm Adriatic. Try the traditional dish called Šurlice, a special type of pasta indigenous to the Island of Krk. Or, go on a wine-tasting tour and learn about the sparkling wine which ferments at the bottom of the Island of Krk sea.
