  • Solent sailing: This is an exclusive chance for a chartered sail around the beautiful waters of the Solent - the strait which separates the Isle of Wight from the mainland. You'll head out for six hours of sailing and bed down at the idyllic Thatched Cottage Hotel in the New Forest, or spend an unforgettable night on board your boat. 

  • Aye aye, skipper: A highly qualified crew who will see to your every need during your time aboard. They'll also offer you the opportunity and instruction to try your hand at sailing. These brilliant day sails won a coveted Tripadvisor Certificate of Excellence, not least for their cosy rooms, where you'll be spending the night if you opt to sleep aboard.  

  • Land-lubbers: Grade II-listed boutique digs in the heart of the New Forest, Thatched Cottage Hotel's façade could have come straight out of a fairy tale. Accommodation is spread between the 17th-century thatched cottage, built during the reign of Charles I, and its garden annex.

How to get there

The hotel is a three-minute walk from Brockenhurst train station, connected to London Waterloo, Manchester Piccadilly, Bournemouth, Weymouth, Poole and Lymington Pier. 

Good to know

Please note that the five-and-a-half-hour sail experience and dinner is a shared experience, and there will be up to eight guests on board. If you opt to stay overnight aboard the yacht, you will have exclusive access after the sailing experience. Please also note that the sailing experience is from 9am to 2.30pm or 3pm to 8.30pm. 

If you opt to stay in the Thatched Cottage Hotel, you have the option of enjoying your sailing experience with dinner, then staying overnight in the hotel, or staying overnight in the hotel then enjoying your sailing experience, with lunch the following day. This is subject to availability, but if you have a preference, please contact Escape Yachting and they will try their best to accommodate. 

Entry requirements


The passport, visa and health requirements at the time of booking can be viewed on the Foreign and Commonwealth Office website for UK citizens, and on the Department of Foreign Affairs website for IE citizens. It is your responsibility to ensure that you and all members of your party are in possession of all necessary travel and health documents, and in compliance with any other immigration/entry requirements before you travel, including whether your passport must be machine readable or which visas/waivers may be required for entry, such as ESTA for USA travel and/or ETIAS for EU travel. Please also be sure to check the validity of your passport and allow up to 10 weeks for passport renewals.
