Each one is beautifully appointed with plush beds, soft linens, rustic décor and modern en suite bathrooms, ensuring a good rest after a day of sightseeing in Rye.
- Proper pub grub: The menus at The Ship are packed full of British produce, with favourite plates including hearty pie and mash, delicious fish and chips and juicy burgers. The Sunday lunches are particularly impressive and come with a selection of delectable sides, while the wine list offers a variety of labels from English producers as well as international houses.
- Fascinating history: Rye’s historic sights are on the doorstep, even The Ship itself has a tumultuous past - it was formerly used as a warehouse for storing smugglers’ loot. Just steps away is Mermaid Street, home to half-timbered houses and equally ancient inns, while Ypres Tower, the harbour and National Trust properties are all a short walk away.
How to get there
The Ship Inn can be found in the centre of the medieval town of Rye, in East Sussex. The town has a station which is a five-minute walk from the hotel, with services to London in about 70 minutes. It’s worth noting that this historic setting of the hotel means there’s no car park, but there are a number of pay and display options locally.
Entry requirements
The passport, visa and health requirements at the time of booking can be viewed on the Foreign and Commonwealth Office website for UK citizens, and on the Department of Foreign Affairs website for IE citizens.
