Stylish 5* Italy hotel near gorgeous Gallipoli

Hotel Torre Assunta, Puglia

Property details

  • Modern with a twist: Hotel Torre Assunta is a recent construction but draws influences from the ancient city of Gallipoli, just a few kilometres to the west. The imposing structure is set around a swimming pool within a central courtyard - just like the historic city’s fortress walls - and is enveloped on the outside by beautifully landscaped gardens and the rugged Salento countryside, which inspires the decor of the relaxing rooms and suites.

  • Wellbeing focus: Long days by the pool can be alternated with trips to the hotel’s spa for maximum relaxation, where there’s a hydromassage tub, sauna, Turkish bath and individual rooms where you can be pampered with massages and body treatments. Need to burn off some energy (or perhaps last night’s orecchiette)? The gym overlooks the sparkling swimming pool and is equipped with Technogym machines.

  • Pugliese dishes: Puglia’s cuisine is famous for its super-fresh seafood, mind-boggling array of breads and biscuits, delicate cheeses and fragrant fruits and vegetables. The hotel is in a fantastic position for exploring the area’s many traditional restaurants, but if you don’t want to go too far, the onsite restaurant serves delicious local dishes and abundant breakfast buffets, using locally sourced ingredients.

How to get there

Hotel Torre Assunta is situated about five kilometres inland from Gallipoli, in the Salento area of Puglia. The nearest airports are Bari (about two-and-a-half hours) and Brindisi (about an hour’s drive), with ports accessible in both cities if you’re taking a ferry. There’s plenty of parking at the hotel if you’re hiring a car – Puglia is a fantastic destination to explore under your own steam.
