Cromwell road, York YO1 6DS

The historic city of York is an ideal option for a romantic weekend getaway. Crane your neck to take in the whole of mighty York Minster before ambling along the River Ouse. The National Railway Museum is another of the city’s must-visit attractions to add to your list. Walk the city walls for a bird’s eye view of York, and weave your way through the higgledy-piggledy cobbled streets of York Shambles.

For some historical context, head to the JORVIK Viking Centre to learn about the city's past long gone, or spend your time exploring York Castle Museum. If you're bringing a car and want to get out of the city, there are golf clubs galore and plenty of countryside to captivate you; the Howardian Hills AONB is just 45 minutes away.
