Hole up in the Yorkshire Dales at a 17th-century coaching inn just north of Wetherby with a soothing spa, chic rooms and an acclaimed restaurant - includes breakfast, dinner credit, spa discount, and more
  • Perfectly placed for pampering: A short whizz up the A1 from Wetherby, The Bridge Hotel & Spa is well positioned for a spa break in the Yorkshire Dales. The 17th-century inn has been given an elegant facelift and features stylish rooms, each one individually decorated – though all are comfortable and welcoming, with good lighting and facilities to make yourself a hot drink.

  • Dinner to die for: Sit under the oak beams and let your taste buds be tempted in The Courtyard restaurant, where the warm and traditional atmosphere is complemented by a menu of British classics like carvery dishes and meats from the grill – always with local ingredients from around the Yorkshire Dales. For a more casual experience, enjoy drinks and snacks in front of the inglenook fireplaces at Byron Whisky Bar, or relax with afternoon tea (and homemade cakes and scones).

  • Lazy days at the spa: Indulge in a bit of pampering at the hotel’s spoiling spa, where you can soothe weary legs in one of the outdoor hot tubs, unwind in the applewood thermal sauna or inhale the goodness of the eucalyptus crystal steam room. Treatments include invigorating massages, facials, foot treatments or luxurious mud baths, but if you’d prefer to just wander between the ice fountain and the Japanese foot spa, you’ll surely be in for a treat (fees apply).

How to get there

The hotel is mere moments from Junction 47 of the A1(M), nine minutes’ drive from Harrogate and 25 minutes from York. Leeds is about 30 minutes’ drive away.

Good to know

The hotel allows well-behaved dogs on a lead in the Byron Whiskey Bar, reception area and outdoor courtyards, and asks that they are not left unattended in bedrooms at any time. There is an additional fee of £30 per pet, per night, which includes the use of a drinking/food bowl and dog treats. Please inform the hotel using the details on your booking confirmation if this is required.

Please note, access to the spa will incur an additional fee.

The Bridge Hotel & Spa, Walshford, Wetherby, West Yorkshire LS22 5HS

Walshford nestles in the heart of Yorkshire, between elegant Harrogate and historic York – both within half an hour. Must-dos within the spa town of Harrogate include a visit to the luxurious Turkish Baths & Health Spa, taking tea at the famous Bettys tearoom, relaxing in the English Heritage Grade II-listed Valley Gardens, and learning about Harrogate’s spa history at the Royal Pump Room Museum. Also worthwhile is browsing the shops in the Montpellier Quarter for antique treats or strolling around the gardens at Harlow Carr. York is well worth a trip to enjoy the huge 13th-century Gothic cathedral, the city walls and well-preserved medieval streets.

The setting of the hotel is slap bang between two Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty – Nidderdale and the Howardian Hills – with the North York Moors National Park also within easy reach. Pack your walking boots for bracing tramps over rolling hills, in search of jaw-dropping views and local wildlife.
